Just as knowing the name of a river may not say what lies around it’s bend; knowing what path we are on, may not aid in telling us which steps we might take along it. This year brings in a new decade, and with it some uncertainty of that next step. At least, that’s the case for Levi Parham.

“My entire life has changed. I got engaged, moved to a new town, bought a house, and have spent almost no time on the road. I’ve become completely focused on my family and home life.” says Parham, speaking about the past two years since releasing his second studio album, It’s All Good in 2018. “I’ve honestly never had things so good or been so happy. But I’m still left wondering, in regards to a music career, what do I do now?”

While finding permanence within his personal life, and uncertainty in his musical endeavors, Parham found his songwriting draw inward. “Performing live, I had become known as this blues guy, writing feel good songs. But at home I had this growing pile of introspective, personal songs that never seemed to fit on any past records. That’s when I got the idea to record a solo acoustic album.”

A ten song album of mostly just voice and guitar, recorded to tape in his own living room; Parham’s upcoming release features a more revealing and honest side to the songwriter. “I confess a lot in these songs. In the past, I might steer towards being hopeful. In these songs, I bare it all. I don’t shy away from what’s true, even when it’s not very glamorous or reveals a side of myself that’s not all flattering. And that’s what I want the most with this project; to be as true to the songs, myself, and to my life, as possible.”

The album will be titled ‘Placeholder’, and has an expected release of June 2020. Parham will be touring the US and Europe, performing both solo and with full band, throughout the year. Keep up to date on leviparham.com
